Silent Hill Townfall Patch Notes: Every Update So Far
Updated 2026-10-09 · Category: Guide
The latest Silent Hill: Townfall update is Patch 1.4.0, released on October 8, 2026 for PS5, Steam and the Epic Games Store (update 2.004 on PS5). Its biggest change: on Story and Normal difficulty, a grab from The Weight now deals heavy damage instead of killing you outright, and it lingers and hunts less aggressively. Enemies hear you less, counterattack less and cannot grab you while you block. The Remote Systems Control console in SWDP gets a readable manual, and the Aux Line pipe layout was redrawn. The only earlier update, Patch 1.3.1 on September 30, was a PC-only stutter fix.

Patch 1.4.0: The Weight
A week after launch, Screen Burn posted that it had "heard you on struggles with The Weight". VGC reported the two complaints behind it: a catch killed you instantly, and the stalker hung around your hiding spot without showing what had drawn its attention. Patch 1.4.0 addresses both.
How to get past The Weight after the patch
- On Story and Normal difficulty, its grab attacks deal heavy damage instead of killing you instantly. Konami's notes do not mention Nightmare, so assume a catch is still fatal there
- It no longer camps in front of your objective for long periods
- It stops searching the same spot again and again and lingering there
- It tracks you less aggressively when hunting
- It is the one enemy that can still grab you while you block with a melee weapon
Patch 1.4.0: other enemies
Taken together, combat is now more forgiving for anyone who blocks and fights, and stealth is less likely to collapse because of one noisy step. TheGamer reports that not every player welcomed it; one reply called the blocking change "giving up on the vision of the game's combat".
Every enemy type and how to handle it
- Enemies are less sensitive to the sound of your firearms
- They are less sensitive to you running
- They are less sensitive to you climbing into a hiding space
- They counterattack less often after you land a melee hit
- Except for The Weight, they can no longer start a grapple while you are blocking with a melee weapon
- You get more time to react after breaking out of a grapple

Neither change alters the answers: Konami's notes mention no new codes. The Valve B commands on our guide are read from cameras and papers in the room, so they are unaffected. The switch positions for the Aux Line, however, were recorded before the patch; if your wall looks different, follow the Auxiliary Lines file on the AUX computer.
Remote Systems Control: every Valve B command
- Remote Systems Control: a collectible manual for this console can now be opened for quick reference while you operate it. This is the SWDP control-room panel in Chapter 15, where you open Valve B. Game Rant called it the game's hardest puzzle
- Aux Line: the pipe layout of the auxiliary lines puzzle in the SWDP AUX room has been updated for clarity
Patch 1.4.0: bug fixes
- Part 5: glass could block the way into the CEG Tower and stop progress. Fixed
- Part 5: Projector Slides could show the same name as each other. Fixed
- Several spots let players out of bounds and broke the game's sequence. Fixed
- The Letterbox option was missing on ultrawide monitors. Fixed
- Missing key bindings for AZERTY keyboards were added
- Frame pacing improved and streaming stutter reduced further
Patch 1.3.1: the PC stutter fix
Released on September 30, 2026 for Steam and the Epic Games Store only. Konami lists a single fix: reduced gameplay stuttering caused by shader precompilation. OC3D explains that the game's precompile step had missed some important shaders, which were then compiled during play; the patch moves more of them into the precompile step.
OC3D could not confirm that every instance of shader stutter was gone, and Screen Burn said more improvements were coming. Patch 1.4.0's frame pacing and streaming-stutter fixes are that follow-up.
Does the patch affect my save, trophies or ending?
Nothing in either set of notes mentions saves, trophies or the ending score, so a run in progress carries on as before. The Weight change only affects what happens when it catches you; it does not remove the stalking sections or the final boss fight, and the Eraser trophy is still awarded for beating it.
Difficulty still carries no trophy penalty, so dropping combat to Story Mode remains the simplest way through The Weight on Nightmare if the patch was not enough.
