How to Escape Mr. Stewart's House in Silent Hill Townfall
Updated 2026-10-11 · Category: Puzzles
Mr. Stewart's house is in Chapter 5, Zoe: Rounds, in Shorefront District – North. After the monster appears, both doors are locked. Turn around, go to the kitchen counter and switch on the radio to pull the monster away. Then go into the bathroom and take Mr. Stewart's Key from above the bathtub, beside a pile of clothes. Go through the bedroom and use the key on the back door you came in by. You do not need to fight anything, and you can get out without taking a hit.

Where you are: Chapter 5, Zoe: Rounds, after the Community Gardens gate. Zoe has come to the house on a welfare check. You play as her, with the pager instead of Simon's CRTV.
The rest of Chapter 5 in the walkthrough
- After the cutscene, turn back and go right to the kitchen counter. Switch on the radio. The noise draws the monster to the kitchen.
- Go straight into the bathroom, the room to the right of the radio. Mr. Stewart's Key is above the bathtub, beside a pile of clothes.
- Leave the bathroom, go through the bedroom to the back door you came in through, and unlock it with the key. Walk out while the monster is still busy in the kitchen.

Why the radio works
This house is where the game teaches its distraction system. A switched-on radio pulls nearby enemies towards the sound, and from here on radios, thrown bottles, bricks and car alarms all work as lures.
The window is short. If you go straight from the radio to the bathroom and on to the door, the monster is still in the kitchen when you leave. If you stop to search, switch the radio off and on again, or wait in the bedroom until it settles before you move.

Both Axe locations on New Game Plus
- Mr. Stewart's Key (bathroom, above the tub): required
- St. Amelia Standard, on the living-room table: a document for Observation and Thorough Inspection
- The phone number 496 0103 (Zoe Ellis), in the folder beside the answering machine: inspect the phone first. It counts toward Cold Calling
- On New Game Plus, a second Axe is in the backyard shed before the house
Trophies to keep in mind here
Save It For The Patients, a silver trophy, asks you to finish Chapter 5 and Chapter 7 as Zoe without using any healing items. The house is the most dangerous part of Chapter 5, which is why the radio route matters: it gets you out without taking damage, so you never need to heal.
Chapter 5 ends with the bronze trophy A Long Night Ahead, when Zoe reports to Dr. Glenn at the Medical Centre.
Who is Mr. Stewart? (spoilers)
Mr. Stewart is an elderly patient Zoe could not save. VGTimes reads the Patient Zoe operates on in Chapter 7 as a distorted version of him, merged with the victims of the rig fire, and ties his death to the heart Simon received.
That is why Zoe's welfare check ends with her trapped in his house: it is the first place her guilt catches up with her.
